Fuel Program ~

Designed for those in a crisis situation regarding fuel problems due to a variety of situations.

You are considered in crisis
if you have a shut-off notice, ~ OR ~

1. You are almost out of heating fuel,

- AND -

2. You have had an unexpected change in circumstances, such as ~

death in the household

unemployment

serious illness

divorce or separation

domestic abuse

court-ordered eviction

- AND -

3. You have exhausted all available means of assistance, such as ~

budgeting with your fuel supplier

budgeting with your energy supplier

credit arrangement with supplier

other resources

If you have any of these circumstances AND you have tried all of the above solutions with no success, then you need the Crisis Fuel Program.

Where do I go? _________________________________________________

1 - Talk to your landlord concerning ~

Furnace repairs
Where your fill pipe is.
What type of fuel is used in the furnace.
Where the fuel tank for the furnace is.
If your electricity runs the furnace.
If the landlord pays for the furnace electricity.

2 - Call the fuel company or electric company ~

Discuss budgeting your payments.
Discuss credit plans.
Try to prevent a shut-off with a payment.
Discuss alternative plans.
Try to work with the supplier.

3 - Call your clubs or organizations for help with this crisis.

4 - Call your local NEKCA office!

What do I bring with me to NEKCA? ________________________________

Information on ALL household members.

This includes all:

Expense receipts for the past 30 days.
Pay stubs for the last 30 days.
Verification of SSI, ANFC, Food stamps.
Verification of all unearned income.
All household Social Security numbers.

Appointments last 30 to 45 minutes.

Others are waiting, so PLEASE bring all that is needed.
