Getting a job is hard work if you don't have transportation !

If you need reliable transportation to get to a job, for school, or to take care of the family's needs, NEKCAs Kingdom Cars program may be able to help. Call your nearest office for an application.

Kingdom Cars, located in East St. Johnsbury, is a NEKCA Work and Self-Reliance program.

QUALIFICATIONS

See below to find out if you qualify, then call one of our offices for an application.

There are 5 program qualifications ~

1. Income must not exceed 150% of the government's poverty level.

2. There must be an ability to reimburse the program for repairs done to the vehicles.

3. You must participate in a hands-on educational workshop (see below).

4. You must have a valid Vermont driver's license.

THE WORKSHOP

The required educational workshop helps teach prospective owners how to take a 'hands-on' role in preventive maintenance and other ownership matters. Items covered in the workshop include how-to sections in:

• Changing tires.

• Correctly rotating tires.

• Changing the oil.

• Performing visual inspections.

• Recognizing automotive smells.

• Identifying noises.

VEHICLE DONATIONS

Kingdom Cars accepts donated vehicles and sells them back into the community for the cost of the repairs to the vehicles. These cars help people look for, obtain, and retain employment. It helps your local families meet their basic everyday needs.

Donors can take a tax write-off for donating their vehicles to this program.
