Nutrition Education
Outreach has one staff
person devoted to providing nutrition education to groups, individuals and
families through workshops and one-on-one counseling.

Budget Counseling
Outreach staff provide
budget counseling to help participants manage their limited resources.

Housing
Outreach manages a
transitional housing complex with four units in Derby. Outreach also
has a 3-bedroom shelter apartment used by homeless families. Outreach
negotiates with landlords, helps participants find stable housing and has
limited funding to help people with their first month's rent. A Tenant
self-sufficiency program that provides tenants with case management has been
piloted for one year and has successful outcomes.

Fuel
Outreach provides
emergency heating to income-eligible participants through funding from PATH
(formerly the Department of Social Welfare).

Farm-to-Family Coupons
Each spring/summer,
Outreach distributes Farm-to-Family coupons to eligible recipients.
The coupons act as a voucher at local farmer's markets so recipients can
obtain fresh fruits and vegetables.

Prescriptions Assistance
Outreach staff help
income-eligible participants obtain prescription medication at reduced costs
through the Pharmacy Discount Program.

Tax Preparation
Several Outreach staff
members are certified by the IRS to do tax preparation. Many Outreach
participants are unable to complete the forms on their own and would
therefore miss out on financial resources such as renter rebates and earned
income credits.
